REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo said here on Thursday that the Indonesian athletes' performance at the 18th Asian Games was in line with the target set. He was satisfied with current's medals tally.
"On the achievement of winning gold medals, I can say that it is in compliance with the target," the president, known as Jokowi, said after a meeting with Indonesia's Muslim organization Muhammadiyah.
Indonesia has set a target to reach the 10th place in the Asian Games 2018 medal tally. "Our target is to reach the big 10, but if we can rank eighth, well, Alhamdulillah (thank God)," Jokowi said.
Indonesia ranked 17th on the medal tally at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
"We have to remember, in the previous Asian Games, we ranked only 17th; hence, we should be thankful if we can reach the 10th place," Jokowi remarked.

The president, on his Twitter account, shared the good news from the paragliding sport event held in Gunung Mas, Puncak resort area in Bogor.
Indonesia's athletes on Wednesday won a gold medal in the men's individual accuracy and silver in the women's individual accuracy.
Indonesia is currently at the fifth place on the medal table after China, Japan, South Korea and Iran. The Indonesian contingent has garnered seven gold medals, five silver medals and nine bronze medals.
